    The Corporate Compliance Specialist plays a critical role in ensuring adherence to regulatory standards across the organization’s educational, residential, and clinical programs. This position supports compliance with New York State Education Department (SED), Office for People with Developmental Disabilities (OPWDD), Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS), and Home and Community-Based Services (HCBS) requirements. The Compliance Specialist conducts audits, monitors corrective actions, supports incident investigations, and contributes to the development of policies, procedures, and training that strengthen organizational integrity and effectiveness.

Pay Range: $64,960.00 - $70,160.00 Salary; Based on experience


RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Conduct formal and informal audits including education program audits, person-centered reviews, and compliance monitoring activities
  • Evaluate adherence to Federal and State regulations, agency policies, and procedures across assigned program areas
  • Research and stay current on evolving regulatory requirements and ensure audit tools reflect updated standards
  • Compile audit findings and develop comprehensive reports with actionable recommendations
  • Monitor and track implementation of Plans of Corrective Action (POCAs) following internal and external audits
  • Support agency preparation for and response to oversight audits (OPWDD, SED, OCFS), including documentation and follow-up
  • Identify and escalate areas of significant or prolonged non-compliance
  • Conduct incident and occurrence investigations in accordance with regulatory and accreditation requirements
  • Document investigative findings and track follow-through on corrective actions related to incidents
  • Serve as backup support for Incident Review Manager functions (IRMA) as assigned
  • Assist in the development, review, and revision of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
  • Track SOP lifecycle including review cycles, approvals, and dissemination
  • Collaborate with departments to ensure SOP alignment with current practices and regulatory expectations
  • Review and update compliance training materials to reflect current standards and organizational procedures
  • Assist in developing and delivering compliance trainings and identifying emerging training needs
  • Support development of compliance-related reports, presentations, dashboards, and trend analyses
  • Contribute to agency-wide compliance initiatives, including Compliance Week activities
REQUIREMENTS:
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret and apply regulatory standards in human services, education, or healthcare settings
  • Strong analytical skills with experience conducting audits, investigations, or quality reviews preferred
  • Excellent written communication skills, including report writing and documentation
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and work both independently and collaboratively
  • Proficiency in data organization, reporting, and presentation development (e.g., Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Knowledge of OPWDD, SED, OCFS, HCBS, or similar regulatory frameworks preferred
