As a Day Hab Specialist (DHS) in one of our four Day Habilitation Centers (located in Ulster and Dutchess Counties), you will place a crucial role in the lives of adults with autism by engaging in enriching activities that foster independence and the achievement of personal goals. Whether you are helping someone learn how to cook, use technology, engage in artistic expression, garden, or better communicate, you will plan in instrucmental role in cultivating the well-being of those we serve. You will even get to support individuals with autism as they practice new skills out in the community!

No prior experience is necessary; we seek reliable, compassionate individuals eager to assist others in attaining goals and independence. This job allows you to share your hobbies and interests, participating in vocational and recreational activities with those you support.

The tasks of a DHS during a shift include hands-on support and instruction, assisting individuals with vocational and recreation skills, providing transportation using anderson vehicles, administering medication, and using our computer systems to document the work completed in enhancing independence and skills.

Pay Range: $18.50 - $22.17 Hourly; Based on experience and education.  

Monday - Friday:  7:30am-3:30pm
 

Responsibilities:

  • Working with the team to develop and implement an ISP that meets the requirements of OPWDD for each participant in their service delivery area.
  • The DHS will also assist in the residential home and transport to one of the Life Long Learning Centers located in either Pleasant Valley, Poughkeepsie, or Saugerties.
  • The Day Hab Specialist will attend to the educational, physical, social, and emotional needs of residents, while assisting the team with the daily programming, data collection, supervision and safety of residents in an assigned service delivery area
  • The Day Hab Specialist will work with all Anderson Center for Autism staff to ensure quality resident services are provided and supported at all times.


Requirements:

  • High School Diploma/ GED
  • Valid NYS Drivers License
  • Must be 21 years or older
  • Must be capable at all times of initiating or assisting in all components of the crisis intervention of the agency
